Mike is a Registered Nurse and Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills. After studying a the Royal Defence Medical College as a Royal Naval Nurse, he worked in Trauma and Emergency settings before undertaking postgraduate teacher training. He has had experience of setting up and managing a successful business in the health sector locally, being nominated for national awards. As an educator, Mike spent time as a Lecturer and Programme Co-ordinator in Further Education locally, he now lectures primarily in Higher Education on a part time basis. He is a full time Clinical Nurse Specialist working in Tissue Viability and studying for a Doctorate in Health. Mike has presented at international conferences and is involved a number of research activities related to wound management and nursing practice. His clinical and educational experience gives him the skills and knowledge to be a valuable member of the team at the school. As a governor, Mike is committed to ensuring that students have the opportunity to succeed in their goals in an environment where they can thrive. He is keen to ensure that students who seek a career in health understand the whole range of careers available and are supported to make decisions that fit with their aspirations.
